In terms of looks, the KUV100 looks like a younger sibling of the popular XUV500. The creases on the bonnet are identical to what we have seen on the latest iteration of the larger SUV. The predator grille flaunts the design language of the new generation of Mahindra cars.
Aside from the design, the highlight of the Mahindra KUV100 is the introduction of a new series of engines. Unlike the other Mahindra cars, the KUV100 will be offered in petrol as well as a diesel engine option. Powering the KUV100 are 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and diesel mill that churn out 83PS and 78PS respectively. Torque ratings for both these engines stand at 115Nm and 190Nm respectively.
The KUV100 is the second offering from Mahindra that uses a monocoque construction. It’s an important application, especially when targeting the small cars segment. While monocoque constructions may not have the rugged abilities of the ladder construction, being lighter makes the vehicle benefit from better fuel efficiency. Also, monocoque constructions sport superior ride due to the structural rigidity offered.
