Bannerghatta Butterfly Park located about 22 kms from Bangalore, adjacent to the Bannerghatta National Park and is closed on Tuesdays. It is easily accessible by bus and other private transport. A day spent at the butterfly park is an excellent opportunity to get out of the routine city life; to learn and witness these colorful creations of nature.

Spread over an area of 7.5 acres with a butterfly trail of about a kilometer length, it is divided as a butterfly garden, a conservatory with a polycarbonate roof and a research and captive breeding laboratory. The landscaped garden and the man made waterfall creates a natural habitat for these insects.The thirty species of butterflies belonging to five families are: Papilionidae, Pieridae, Nymphalidae, Lycaenidae and Hesperiidae. However one study reported 48 species of butterflies in various seasons here.
