With its spine-chilling scenes, horror movies are always trying their bit to impress the audience and make their heart miss a heartbeat. There are some movies which keep the audience at the edge of their seats and there have been many in the recent past that have haunted them for days. Here's our list of top 10 horror movies.

1. The Ring

This Hollywood thriller was a remake of the Japanese horror film Ring which was inspired by the Novel which carried the same name. After receiving rave reviews from the audience, the movie had paved the way for its sequels The Ring Two and Rings.

2. The Conjuring

The movie was described as one of the most horrific movies of all times with a story revolving around a possessed doll. The first series from conjuring had created a record with its collections of 319 million dollars worldwide.

3. The Exorcist

The movie was based on the  novel The Exorcist which was written by William Peter Blatty after being inspired by a real-life incident where a mother gets back her possessed child after performing exorcism with the help of two priests.

4. The Grudge

The Grudge was a remake of the Japanese horror film Ju-on: The Grudge. The movie depicts the grudge a person experiences before death. The curse of the deceased haunts the person with its supernatural powers.

5. Insidious

The movie is the first series of the Insidious franchise. The story revolves around a boy who gets into a comatose stage and his body becomes a place for all the ghosts. Insidious was followed by its sequel chapter 2 and its prequels chapter 3 and The Last Key.

6. Annabelle Creation

The movie is the fourth instalment of The Conjuring and is worth watching by everyone who love horror movies. Annabelle trumped its first part in its collection becoming the highest grossing horror movie in recent times. The movie was released in 2017.

7. Halloween

The first film of the Halloween franchise revolves around a boy who gets admitted into a sanitorium after killing his elder sister. He then escapes from it and kills teenage babysitters on Halloween night.

8. A Nightmare on Elm Street

It is a story of four teenagers who get killed in their dreams which repeats in real life too. The film which was released in 1984 paved  a new way for horror genres in Hollywood.

9. Paranormal Activity

The American supernatural film focuses on a couple who experiences some paranormal activities in their home. The film was called the most profitable film with over 193 million dollar in collections.

10. The Silence of The Lambs

The Silence of the Lambs was released in 1991 and bagged the Best picture prize among horror movies. The movie was made by Ted Tally after he got inspired by the novel of the same name.
