City waterfall in Antalya

  • The Duden River originates in a group of karst springs on the 30th kilometer of the old Antalya-Burdur road. Their waters are collected in a single stream and sent to the turbines of the cascade of hydroelectric power plants.
  • Before the construction of the first hydroelectric power plant in 1962, the natural river bed was partly 14 km underground. The underground part starts from the Bykla funnel, not far from the springs, where the discharge can reach 30 m³ / s during floods.
  • The mouth of the river is the Lower Duden waterfall, surrounded by a park, where water falls from a height of 40 meters directly into the Mediterranean Sea. Never before have I seen waterfalls located right in the city.
